All about Essex
Essex is a historic and administrative county in the East of England, London lies to its East, the Thames Estuary is to the South with Suffolk and Cambridge forming most of the northerly border. Essex County Council is the local authority, which much of its administration based in and around Chelmsford. There are twelve district authorities (Braintree, and two unitary authorities; Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea.
A beautiful county
Essex is as beautiful as it is historic. It enjoys a coastline of over 340 miles with several award winning beautiful beaches. It is home to thousands of listed properties including the 7th century Saxon church of St Peter-on-the-Wall, Hedingham Castle and Thaxted Guildhall. Attractions and places to visit are many and varied including; Abberton Reservoir, Audley End House and Gardens, Cressing Temple, East Anglian Railway Museum , Epping Forest, Mersea Island, Saffron Walden Museum and Waltham Abbey.
