Welcome to the Justessex Essex Police jobs page. We've been publishing details of local police vacancies and general career details for several years. In that time the quantity and quality of our coverage has developed thanks to suggestions from our users and researchers. If you have experience of working for Essex Police or their recruitment process we'd welcome your feedback.
From a policing point of view the Essex force consists of 14 districts. Each with a District Commander who is responsible for policing in that district, including their respective Neighbourhood Policing Teams. These districts teams consist of: Basildon - Braintree - Brentwood - Castle Point - Chelmsford - Colchester - Epping Forest - Harlow - Maldon - Rochford - Southend - Stansted Airport - Tendring - Thurrock - Uttlesford.
At the time of writing Essex Police were still working through the applications from their last major recruitment drive so they weren't accepting any new applications for uniformed officers. They are however able to consider applications from transferees and re-joiners. To see the current position visit the Essex Police website at http://www.essex.police.uk/. The range of roles for non-uniformed staff in the Essex force is fairly typical of UK police forces. You can normally expect to find the following staff working in the HQ: Clerical Assistants, Development Officer, Criminal Justice Admin Staff, Intelligence Administration Staff, Communications Officers, Civil Claims Manager, Press Officers, Administrators, Contracts and Procurement Officers, Technicians, Secretaries, Service Desk Staff, Property Officers and much more.
The Essex force employ some staff in forensic support roles including photography, fingerprinting and vehicle examination, scenes of crime and forensic laboratory. For the current information follow the working for Essex Police link.
If you are employed by Essex the chances are that you will be working at the Chelmsford HQ or one of the local stations.

All about Essex
Essex is a historic and administrative county in the East of England, London lies to its East, the Thames Estuary is to the South with Suffolk and Cambridge forming most of the northerly border. Essex County Council is the local authority, which much of its administration based in and around Chelmsford. There are twelve district authorities (Braintree, and two unitary authorities; Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea.
A beautiful county
Essex is as beautiful as it is historic. It enjoys a coastline of over 340 miles with several award winning beautiful beaches. It is home to thousands of listed properties including the 7th century Saxon church of St Peter-on-the-Wall, Hedingham Castle and Thaxted Guildhall. Attractions and places to visit are many and varied including; Abberton Reservoir, Audley End House and Gardens, Cressing Temple, East Anglian Railway Museum , Epping Forest, Mersea Island, Saffron Walden Museum and Waltham Abbey.
